Masibambane crèche aims to provide quality pre-school education that will prepare the vulnerable children and orphans of KwaMncane for formal schooling and to ultimately give them good caring supervision while their mothers are at work or school. Masibambane crèche is based in KwaMncane, Vulindlela which is a situated in a greater part of rural community of Pietermaritzburg. The Masibambane crèche is completely un-funded and is being run on the strength of the available community resources. The crèche currently provides care and support for 45 vulnerable children.
The crèche is run from a community member’s home with four unpaid voluntary care givers and the crèche is in a desperate need of basic materials and equipment, including toys, mattresses and learning materials to develop their full potential to provide sustainable early childhood development. The Youth of Choice Organization has endeavored to improve the educational future of these vulnerable children’s and orphans through the much needed support received from Investec, Shuter & Shooter Publishers, Pep Stores and Aquelle.
However, the number of parents wishing to send their children to the crèche is increasing, and the crèche would like to expand and improve its facility to an educare centre to provide quality Early Childhood Development. To do this, Masibambane crèche is now looking for caring partners to provide the following:
- Additional educational materials to improve learning: books, toys, art materials and learning materials; R2000
- Improved material such as mattresses, blankets, small tables, chairs and outdoor play equipment; R4000
- Building materials including bricks, cements, window and door frames, plumbing, electrical materials and paints; If you would like to sponsor the building material towards an envisaged educare centre to improve the current state of the creche, please contact us directly.

- Early Childhood Development training for the care givers to ensure that they have the right skills and knowledge from accredited institutions to deliver services and work effectively with the children; R3180

You can choose to support any one or more of these 'basic needs.' Alternatively a group of individuals can collectively support all the needs of a creche. No matter how big or small, all contributions will be gratefully received and wisely used in support of Masibambane creche. Ultimately, our goal is to assist Masibambane creche to build an educare centre. Land has been secured and architects plans have drawn up.
In this year 2010, it is estimated that approximately 3 million children will be orphaned in South Africa alone and YOC recognizes need for an intervention strategy to support Masibambane crèche. YOC believes that a child has five basic needs: education, social, safety, physical growth and fun.
This campaign will not only provides these children with much needed support but also offers businesses and individual donors an affordable opportunity as a means to meaningfully contribute for the greater good and for the better of the community.
All the support and funds raised through our three month campaign will be used to provide for the basic needs of this children.YOC as an activation partner will acknowledge receipt of your contribution, purchase the items you selected and distribute them to Masibambane crèche. Our intervention framework which hopes to ensure we provide effective and activation support to orphans and vulnerable children of Masibambane crèche with the aim to ensure that they have a chance of a brighter future.
